Offering support to people who are experiencing difficulties in their lives

As a Humanistic Integrative counsellor, I combine a range of approaches including CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Person Centered, Gestalt and T.A. (Transactional Analysis). Our work together is mainly determined by your individual needs and so an integrative approach can offer an adaptable, holistic and inclusive style of counselling.

Counselling offers support to people who are experiencing difficulties in their lives due to a range of crisis or life events such as the breakdown of a relationship, the death of a loved one, threat of redundancy and job loss or adjusting to parenthood. Focusing on the here and now life experience, counselling usually last between six and twelve sessions, although longer term work is beneficial for some.

Psychotherapy enables you to reflect on your early years and begin to identify how your past experiences influence the life choices you make now. Acknowledging what has gone before and learning to adapt to you as you are now can feel empowering: enabling you to make changes to your life going forward.

The benefits of psychotherapy can be noticed and built upon over time and so the number of sessions is flexible. Both of these talking therapies provide an opportunity to explore the impact that both past and current events are having on you, allowing you to become more aware of yourself and your individual needs. Talking things through really can reveal a way forward.

Assessment Session

This session offers an opportunity for a more in depth conversation about what issues you are facing and how your experiences have shaped who you are today. Once we have established what you would like to work on, we can discuss ways of working together and suggest a way forward. Usually, I will recommend a series of sessions, incorporating regular reviews to ensure that the sessions continue to focus on your needs.

Individual Sessions

Once we have agreed to work together, we will establish a regular day and time to meet.

Individual sessions are usually weekly, although more frequent sessions might be suitable in some instances and equally, less frequent sessions can be beneficial as the working agreement comes towards a close. This is an individual decision, and we will discuss which way of working fits in best with your needs, budget and other commitments.
