What is Supervision ?

Supervision is a space for reflection on all aspects of the counselling process with the safety and welfare of clients being central to the supervision process. In my role as supervisor, I offer a forum in which the supervisee can offer an account of their clinical client work, reflect on all aspects of the work and receive feedback, guidance and alternative perspective. Supervision requirements are usually 90 minutes per month, depending on your practice and the requirements of your regulatory body. This can be split into two 45 minute sessions, if appropriate.

About Me...

As a registered member of the BACP, my supervision practice is informed by the Ethical Framework 2018 and I endeavour to offer a supportive and collaborative environment in which to support counsellors and ultimately, their clients. My supervision approach is firmly based in the Process Model, or 7-eyed Model, as developed by Hawkins & Shohet and influenced by my training as a Humanistic Integrative counsellor. As a supervisor, I strive to support the counsellor in their counselling practice, encouraging continued professional growth through knowledge and training to offer the possible service to their clients.

What do I offer as a supervisor?

  • Supervision for counsellors in private practice or within agency
  • Supervision for counselling students studying at Level 4 & above (providing reports to support your study as required)
  • Supervision within agency and organisations
  • Supervision of supervision

Your needs as a supervisee…

Our first supervision session will focus on understanding how supervision can best support your practice. Whilst our counselling experience and training to date may differ, it is helpful if there is a similarity in modalities and client case. An exploration of your supervision needs will enable us to identify commonalities and differences that can enrich the supervision process. We will talk through the supervision agreement and agree on a way of working together going forward.
